Substrate fertilizer is available in two variants... once as a fertilizing layer, for example, Power Sand from Aqua Design Amano, which is entered as first layer under the actual substrate (soil), or as fertilizer capsules or fertilizer sticks that are still set at any time later at desired locations in the Soil.

With fertilizer capsules, or fertilizer sticks you can add targeted plants with sufficient needed nutrients, especially in the root area, such as Cryptorynes. You can add such sticks well with the aid of injectors or the Bottom relase of ADA ... even on hard to reach places.

Fertilizer layers or fertilizing substrate provides a total of the plants in the root area of the introduced points with additional nutrients over a longer period.

In addition, the the main constituent is usually of coarser pumice or lava granules, so that here, too, the water circulation and thus the oxygen supply in the bottom portion is even positively influenced. The plants can be spread its roots in smaller spaces easily and there absorb the nutrients.

Fertilizer for the substrate of the Aquarium is used for the nutrient supply of aquatic plants. Some plant species, particularly strong root plants, e.g. Cryptocoryne are dependent on a good supply of nutrients in the root area for good growing.
