Sweet chestnut leaves are great as a natural food source for shrimp, crayfish and snails, as well as great hiding place for shrimp and crayfish in your aquarium.
The sweet chestnut leaves are a perfect grazing area for shrimp, crayfish, crabs and snails, as tiny microorganisms, which are also responsible for the decomposition of the sweet chestnut leaves, create a valuable microbiological lawn. Even the soft, decaying foliage itself is then eaten by the shrimp and crayfish and usually completely.
Our sweet chestnut leaves are picked by hand directly from the tree (not collected from the ground), gently air-dried and then packed. Thus, an optimal quality of the sweet chestnut leaves can be ensured.
Take a small portions of sweet chestnut leaves (depending on the number of shrimps or crayfish) from the pack and simply place in the aquarium.
The sweet chestnut leaves swim at first, but will sink with time ... see tip below.
Since the sweet chestnut leaves initially float on the water surface, you can brew the foliage briefly with boiling water ... then it sinks relatively quickly to the ground. Or you complain the sweet chestnut leaves with a small stones at the desired location in the aquarium.
