Prefilter (filter basket)

The Eheim prefilter (filter basket) fits practically all external filters with an intake pipe diameter of 12/16 and 16/22 mm.

The Eheim prefilter provides excellent filter performance, the highest water quality and lengthens the maintenance intervals of the external filter.

The Eheim prefilter holds back coarse dirt before the intake sucks it into the filter, which prevents the filter media inside the external filter from premature clogging.

The filter basket is easy to remove (Easy Click System) and easy to clean. It takes in the water right above the substrate. Coarse dirt stays in the prefilter and cannot get into the filter.
This lengthens the maintenance intervals and thus the biological degradation process inside the filter, where harmful substances are broken down by bacteria.

Newly hatched and really small shrimplets may get through the foam.
In our opinion, this prefilter is still quite safe even for young baby shrimp.
