The indian almond tree Terminalia catappa L. has been extremely popular in aquatics for many years, especially among shrimp and crab enthusiasts. Its leaves, tubes, and bark contain valuable tannins and humic substances that can have a positive effect on the aquarium environment.
What makes this set special
In addition to high-quality natural products for your aquarium, you will also receive seeds and instructions for growing your own indian almond tree. This means you not only have natural care products for your aquarium, but can also cultivate the source of these proven active ingredients yourself – from seed to plant. An exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to delve deeper into the world of aquatics and actively live sustainably.
The indian almond leaves and bark contained in the set release important tannins and humic substances into the water. These have a mild disinfecting and fungicidal effect (against fungi and spores) and can therefore be used preventively against fungal infections or molting problems in shrimp and crabs.
At the same time, the leaves, tubes, and bark serve as natural and decorative elements in the aquarium. Over time, bacteria and microorganisms settle on their surface as a result of the decomposition process—a valuable and popular food source for shrimp. The decomposing leaves themselves are also particularly appreciated by crayfish.
Dosage & application of indian almond leaves
Nano: 2-3 leaves per approx. 40 l of aquarium water; Normal: 2-3 leaves per approx. 100 l of aquarium water. Simply place the indian almond leaves on the water surface. After 1-2 days, the leaves will have absorbed water and slowly sink to the bottom.
Dosage of indian almond bark and tubes
Nano: 1-2 tubes / 5-10g bark per approx. 40 l aquarium water; Normal: 1-2 tubes / 10-20g bark per approx. 100 l aquarium water. Simply add the indian almond bark and tubes to the aquarium.
Effect duration
After 2 - 3 weeks, although the effect of the Almond tree leaves and Almond tree bark is largely exhausted, they should nevertheless be left in the basin. The leaves that decompose over time are eaten by shrimps and crabs to the last detail.
