Mini Landscape (Seiryu)

The mini landscape, also known as Seiryu stone, is a real classic among aquascaping stones. With its characteristic grey color, distinctive edges and natural, often slightly whitish veins, it is an indispensable design element for anyone who wants to recreate a natural, harmonious landscape in their aquarium.

The name “Seiryu” comes from the Japanese and means “blue dragon”. This alludes to both the mystical appearance of the stone and its origin. Seiryu stones were originally mined in Japan, where they are regarded as a symbol of strength and elegance. Today, many commercially available Seiryu stones come from different regions of Asia, but the aesthetics and effect remain unmistakable.

Material & texture
Seiryu stone is a calcareous rock with a hard, rugged texture. Its surface is rough, criss-crossed by erosion lines and looks as if it has been shaped by water and wind over thousands of years. The characteristic lighter-colored inclusions, mostly in the form of fine quartz veins, give each stone a unique appearance. Due to its lime content, Seiryu stone can slightly increase the water hardness, which should be taken into account when planning the aquascape - especially when keeping soft water-loving species.

Thanks to the variety of shapes and sizes, Seiryu stones can be used to create both classic and modern aquascaping concepts. Whether dramatic mountain peaks, gentle hilly landscapes or rocky corridors - there are virtually no limits to the imagination. The combination of Seiryu stones with a light-coloured substrate and targeted planting, which emphasizes the natural lines of the stone, is particularly effective.

Care instructions
Before use in the aquarium, the stones should be cleaned thoroughly with a brush to remove loose particles and any impurities. For very sensitive aquarium inhabitants, regular water testing is recommended to keep an eye on the water values. If you want to avoid an increase in carbonate hardness, you can counteract this by adding CO₂ and using softer water.
