Pro Aquatest Carbonate Hardness KH
Aquarium water analysisThe water test JBL Pro Aquatest KH (carbonate hardness) determines the carbonate hardness in your aquarium. In the freshwater aquarium the value should be between 1 and max. 18 °dKH.
A constant carbonate hardness in the aquarium is important for the well-being of e.g. Fish and Shrimp, as well as for the splendid thriving of aquatic plants. The carbonate hardness also buffers and stabilizes the pH. If you have no other acid buffer in the aquarium (e.g. soil substrate), a carbonate hardness of less than 4 can lead to a so-called acid drop, i.e. the pH value drops very quickly and in an uncontrolled manner into an extremely acidic range, which is usually fatal for almost all residents.
