With the JBL Pro Aquatest Mg Magnesium water test you can check the magnesium value of your freshwater aquarium.
Magnesium is an important macronutrient for aquatic plants, and it forms the largest part of the total hardness of the aquarium water, together with calcium. If magnesium is deficient, the plants show signs of malnutrition: The leaves start fading in color and turn yellowish (which looks a little like iron deficiency), and they assume a warped growth habit.
A value between 5 and 10 mg/l in the aquarium is recommended for good plant growth.
