Potassium is an important macronutrient, which is taken up by aquatic plants quickly and efficiently. Especially newly planted plants have an elevated demand for potassium, which makes potassium fertilization important especially when the tank is cycling. With the JBL Potassium Test Set you can check your potassium levels quickly and easily and see if you need to add more fertiizer.

For good plant growth, a potassium level of 5 and 10 mg/l is recommended. If the tank is strongly lit (over 1 W/l), the potassium content should be double this amount ... around 10 - 20 mg/l. Please note: even higher potassium levels might favor the formation of hair algae.
