ProScape Mount Aso Soil Black

The natural volcanic substrate from Mount Aso in Japan is an ideal base for sophisticated aquariums. The fertile volcanic rock promotes tropical-like, soft, and slightly acidic aquarium water and provides optimal anchorage for aquarium plants.

Thanks to its unique structure, the substrate can bind colorants and suspended particles through adsorption, thereby contributing to exceptionally clear aquarium water. At the same time, the grain size allows for good water flow through the substrate. This ensures that plant roots are reliably supplied with nutrients, and bacteria that break down pollutants find a large, oxygen-rich surface area.

The natural volcanic substrate can also bind excess nutrients and release them back to the plants as needed. Its smooth, non-sharp-edged structure also makes it suitable for burrowing fish. For optimal design, it can be combined with JBL PROSCAPE VOLCANO POWDER and substrate heaters.
