Matrix High Capacity Biofiltration is the perfect solution for efficient and biological filtration in the aquarium. This porous filter medium helps to reduce nitrogen pollution. The porous, inorganic solid particles with a diameter of approx. 10 mm have approximately the same surface area as 170 liters of plastic balls. Thanks to its macroporous surface structure, the effect is more effective than with plastic-based filter materials. Their size makes the macropores the ideal settlement site for nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria. Unlike other bio-filter media, Matrix can therefore break down nitrate, nitrite and ammonium simultaneously and in the same filter.

Matrix itself is inactive and will not decompose. Therefore, no replacement is necessary. The majority of bacteria live on the internal structures, so Matrix can be easily rinsed out if necessary. This does not affect the filter effect. Matrix is ​​compatible with all aquarium filters and trickle filters.
