Air-operated foam filters for aquariums from Sera

Air-operated foam internal filters from Sera work according to the principle of the mammoth pump (airlift). An air pump feeds air through a hose into a riser tube. The rising air bubbles draw aquarium water upwards with them. This creates a continuous flow of water through a fine-pored foam sponge, which cleans the water mechanically. Useful nitrifying bacteria also settle inside the sponge, which biologically break down harmful substances such as ammonium and nitrite. The high porosity of the sponge provides optimum conditions for this.

These filters are particularly suitable for rearing larvae and young fish. Thanks to their gentle flow and fine filter structure, there is no risk of small fish being sucked in. Sera internal filters are also characterized by high performance, quiet operation and even air distribution. The Sera L150 internal filter is ideal for use with an air membrane pump such as the JBL ProAir a50.
