These plants are already cultivated in their submersed form in the sealed pot (in contrast to most traditionally-produced plants, which are grown above the waterline in aquatic plant nurseries), and when planted into an aquarium, there is no need for them to shed their air leaves and sprout underwater leaves ... therefore, inVitro plants are off to a good start in a tank and will take root very quickly.
Heteranthera zosterifolia
Heteranthera zosterifolia is an especially stunning stem plant from South America that sprouts many lateral shoots and forms dense, bushy groups very fast. Under strong light it grows very fast and needs to be trimmed frequently in order to get some light to the undermost leaves. It often sprouts water roots on the 30 to 50 cm long stems. When allowed to grow along the water surface in open tanks, small blue flowers frequently appear on those shoots.
