A correct configuration of the aquarium substrate is very important for a well-functioning Aquascape, or Nature Aquarium. In general, a nutrient-rich substrate, such as e.g. ADA Amazonia or Glasgarten Environment Aquarium Soil used in planted aquarium tanks, so the plants get enough nutrients through the roots.

Furthermore, such a substrate (soil) has the property to take the hardness out of the water and creates good conditions for most aquatic plants and shrimp / fish (for example, Bee Shrimps).

With special substrate fertilizer or soil additives you can optimize and supplemented the nutrients for the water plants and the conditions for the important microbiology in the substrate. Water plants can also be supplied optimal with nutrients for a long-term.

With decorative sand or gravel can set entirely new accents in your Aquascaping Layout. Traditionally sand or gravel is used rather for open areas without plants and is used for optical design of such spaces.
